Our meetings take place on the third Tuesday of each month at the Missouri River Regional Library in downtown Jefferson City, Missouri. Meetings run from 7-9pm, and members often meet afterwards at a nearby restaurant for a late dinner. (Click here for an address and map.)
Meetings consist of hands-on workshops, special guest speakers and presentations, photo field trips, and equipment update news.
Each month, we also have a themed contest that is intended to encourage both amateur photographers as well as motivate more advanced members. (Please see contest rules before submitting photos.)
Meetings are led by our officers. Programs and contest themes are chosen by a committee in the early part of the year. A monthly newsletter is sent by email to all members, and it includes a list of all the contest themes so that you can prepare your images in advance.
Annual Events:
- Business Meeting (January): Election of officers, selection of committee, and vote on the Photo of the Year contest.
- Field Trip (July): Members bring their cameras for a summer evening shoot in lieu of a meeting. At the meeting following the field trip, we share our photos from the evening.
- Scavenger Hunt (November): The Scavenger Hunt is a fun game for all members. A selection of topics is announced in the early part of the year (often in February), and members have until the November meeting to take a group of photos that captures the topics listed. These are shared at the November meeting.
- Open Show (all year): We are always interested to see what our members are working on. On the nights when an open program is listed, members are invited to bring something for show-and-tell. It could be a few images, a new trick in PhotoShop, or a new photography gadget.
